NEWPORT, R.I. (July 15, 2009)--Chaka Khan will step in for Etta James at this year's Newport Jazz Festival.
James was to perform August 7 at opening night, but festival organizers say she's too ill to perform.
Khan also pinch-hit for Natalie Cole when she canceled a performance near Washington D.C. after getting a kidney transplant.
