CHICAGO (October 6 2009)--Joe Perry says he writes more songs than Aerosmith needs, so he stockpiles them and calls them his "when the motorcycle hits the tree songs" that his wife would release after he's gone.
Then it occurred to him to put them out while he's still alive so he'd know they were enjoyed, and that’s the thinking behind his solo album, "Have Guitar, Will Travel," which is out Tuesday.
He said he has that philosophy in his home life, too.
His oldest son always admired a Rolex Perry owns, and the son even asked if Perry would leave it to him in his will.
Perry gave it to him, figuring he'd rather see his son enjoy it while he was still alive.
