WASHINGTON (October 16, 2009)--Chris Rock isn't worried that black women will be mad at him for blowing the lid off the hair care industry in his new movie, “Good Hair.”
So far, he says, women, especially younger ones, are happy he did "Good Hair," which looks at the lengths to which some women go to get away from their natural hair, using everything from perms to weaves to extensions.
Rock said while some older women weren't happy about the film, younger women are glad he put the subject out there so people can talk about it.
Rock expects guys will want to see the movie, but the interest in the subject by women is so strong it would be "a waste of time" to advertise to guys.
At the same time, he has gotten a head full of knowledge about women's hair, so much that he says he knows "a little too much for a non-hairdresser" about the subject.

This movie is way over due. I hope that Mr. Rock cover now we did not even support our own hair care industry and allow our Korean counter parts to completely take control of an industry that should be controlled, operated and financed by black folks. I also hope he interviewed Cynthia McKinney on the topic. Mr. Rock is sometimes on the cutting edge with his commentary and comic routine. I hope he really hits home with this one. Great job Rock for put this into our public conscience.
