NASHVILLE, Tenn. (November 9, 2009)--Christian singer Steven Curtis Chapman headlined a concert during which he called on believers to adopt some of the world's 140 million orphaned children.

Sunday's "Cry of the Orphan" concert was streamed live on the Internet from Nashville, Tenn.

Chapman noted that the Bible describes Christians as being adopted into God's family, a blessing he said Christian families can share by opening their homes up to at least one orphaned child.

Chapman and his wife have adopted three girls from China and have helped other families adopt through their Show Hope ministry.

During Sunday's concert, he sang about his youngest daughter, Maria Sue Chapman, who was run over and killed in the family's driveway last year, and how he looks forward to being with her in heaven.
