(November 9, 2009)—Country performer Dierks Bentley has a connection with the sergeant who helped bring down the alleged Fort Hood shooter.

Bentley told People.com he met Sgt. Kimberly Munley in July when he did an Independence Day concert at Fort Hood, Texas.

After the concert, Munley waited for the crowd to thin out, and then she came up to him and asked if she could take a photo with him, he said.

It became her Twitter image.

Bentley said he called Munley on Friday to thank her and tell her he was honored to have his picture taken with her.

He said she told him she lost a lot of blood from the shooting, but he said it sounds like she's recovering.

Bentley says he plans on going back to Fort Hood again.
