NASHVILLE, Tenn. (February 4, 2010)--The head of Taylor Swift's label Big Machine Records has an explanation for what happened during her duet with Stevie Nicks at the Grammys Sunday night.
Scott Borchetta told The Associated Press that the rehearsal went well, but said during the performance there was "a volume problem in the ear" and Swift "was concerned that she wasn't able to hear everything in the mix."
Bloggers and media outlets, including The New York Times and The Washington Post, pounced on Swift for the performance, which critics feel overshadowed the four Grammys she won.
Borchetta had a message for Swift's critics, however.
"If you haven't seen her live performance, you're welcome to come out as my guest to a Taylor Swift show and experience the whole thing, because it's amazing. You can see her in her element,” he said.
“There's a reason tickets are selling like they are," he said.
Swift's Australian tour kicks off Thursday.
