(June 13, 2012) - One local charity has help to give people suffering from the heat this summer, but needs them to sign up first.
The Salvation Army in Waco has 1,000 box fans, 100 air conditioners, and 10 ceiling fans to give away to TXU customers.
A grant from TXU allowed The Salvation Army to buy the items.
The charity says registration will be open until the end of June.
They ask you to apply in person at their office at 4721 W. Waco Drive.
Here's the list of items The Salvation Army asks you to bring with you when you register for an air conditioner:
-A photo ID for all adults in the household
- Social security cards
- Current lease agreement
- Proof of income and expenses for the last 30 days
- Copy of current TXU bill
- Doctor's note verifying health condition(s).
For more information, you can call The Salvation Army at 254-756-7271.
Meanwhile, Caritas of Waco is also asking for fan donations this summer.
Last year, it ran out of fans, because the need was so great in our area.
This same request is made by The Salvation Army of Temple and Killeen.
