(January 16, 2012) - The Waco Salvation Army won't be able to provide as much rental assistance to families in need this year.
Donations from the annual Red Kettle Fundraiser came up 30% short this year compared to 2010.
The Waco Salvation Army Family Store is also seeing less sales, meaning less money going into their social services fund.
But less than 70 miles away in Killeen, the Salvation Army in Killeen saw a 13-14% increase in Red Kettle collections, according to Lieutenant Chris Bryant.
In 2011, the Salvation Army was able to collect about $93,000 in donations, compared to about $71,000 in 2010.
