(December 4, 2012)--Today is National Cookie Day.

So with that in mind, the KWTX News 10 This Morning Decided to share their favorite cookie recipes.

Here they are:


Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes

Grab your keys and get in your car.
Put on your seat belt.
Drive to the nearest store.
Got to the bakery or aisle 9 at HEB.
Pick our your favorites.
Proceed to checkout counter.
Go back in your car.
Drive home.
Remove wrapping around cookie before you eat, and enjoy!


Awesome Oatmeal Cookies

1 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs well beaten
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 Tablespoon cinnamon
3 cups oats
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup raisins

Cream shortening and sugars, add eggs and vanilla. Then add flour, salt, baking soda and cinnamon. Add to first mixture and mix well. Add a tablespoon of water. Add raisins and nuts. Add oats last. Spoon out on greased cookie sheets, bake for 350 degrees for ten minutes.


Sugar Cookies


2/3 C Shortening
1T plus 1t Buttermilk
2C Flour
1 1/2t Baking Powder
3/4C Sugar
1t Vanilla
1 Egg
1/4 t Salt

- Cream shortening, sugar, buttermilk & vanilla
- Beat in egg
- Combine flour, baking powder, & salt
- Mix into cream mixture
- Cover and refrigerate several hours or overnight
- Roll into 1/8 or ¼ inch thickness on floured surface
- Cut into shapes
Bake at 375° for 7 to 9 minutes
