7.19.2012 FBI Report On Fort Hood 2009 Shooting Rampage

Print

WASHINGTON (July 19, 2012)--A Texas congressman says the FBI was too concerned about political correctness and did not share critical information about a potential terrorist in the U.S. military that could have prevented the deadly 2009 shootings in Fort Hood, Texas.

Rep. Michael McCaul says a new report on the Fort Hood attack describes troubling emails between the Army psychiatrist and a known terrorist, and these emails should have been red flags for government investigators.

McCaul, a Republican, was briefed on the findings of a more than two-year independent review by former FBI Director William Webster.

The FBI did not respond to a request for comment but is expected to release an unclassified version of the report.
