GATESVILLE (October 31, 2009)—There were characters of every description crowding the downtown square in Gatesville on Halloween night as families from around Central Texas came to Gatesville for the Ninth Annual Halloween Boozaar.
The event is sponsored each year by the City of Gatesville and it creates a safe and secure Trick or Treat for families.
Organizers estimated as many as 2,000 guests crowded the courthouse square and the businesses that surround the square and run along Main Street, where several dozen businesses remained open until 8 p.m. to provide treats for the revelers.
There were spooks and goblins of every description, as well as clown and cartoon characters of every age and description.
In addition, businesses and organizations from all over town came to the square to set up game and food booths for everyone to enjoy.
The police department cordoned off 6th, 7th and Leon streets to ensure traffic would not interfere with the party-goers safety.
By 8 p.m., with their candy and goodie bags filled to the brim, youngsters and their parents headed home so they could get a close look at their bounty.
