GATESVILLE (November 2, 2009)--A former Copperas Cove Fire Department paramedic is on trial in Gatesville, charged with official oppression for what a patient says was improper contact with her.
Jury selection began at 9 a.m. in Gatesville 52nd State District Court for the trial of Kasey S. Calvery, a former paramedic with the Copperas Cove Fire Department.
The prosecution, led by Coryell County District Attorney David Castillo, contends Calvery exposed and then improperly touched an 18-year-old accident victim's breasts while pretending to tend to her injuries.
Calvery was arrested in February.
Attorneys Sam Bassett, of Houston, and Allen D. Place, of Gatesville, are defending him.
The case is being heard before District Judge Trent Farrell.
