NEW YORK (October 18, 2009)--A New York congressman has issued a warning about con artists who he says are selling fake flu drugs online.

Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., says people may be so worried about the swine flu outbreak and what officials say is a temporary vaccine shortage, that they'll take a risk buying drugs online without thinking about it.

He said his office easily found sites selling fake flu drugs.

Weiner said FDA investigators saw some that turned out to be acetaminophen, the active ingredient in the over-the-counter painkiller Tylenol.

Weiner said buyers should be sure online sites are legitimate and require a prescription.
