AUSTIN (February 1, 2010)--The University Interscholastic League released the new districts, regions and classes for about 1,300 schools based on enrollment figures collected from the Texas Education Agency.

In 4A, the big news is that the Waco area teams and Killeen High are in district 8 now. They are joined by San Angelo Lakeview and Stephenville.

Also, several schools changed classifiation. Lampasas moved down to 3A. Salado moved up to 3A. Cameron moved down to 2A. Axtell moved up to 2A. Moody moved down to 1A.

In Class 2A, Crawford was moved out of predominantly all-Central Texas district. The Pirates are now in District 4, Division 2 with Cisco, Hamilton, Hico, Millsap, Rio Vista, and Tolar

The UIL conducts realignment every two years and the changes can have a major impact in a state where high school sports, and the local team's ability to contend for a championship, remain important to communities.

Changing districts or classifications can boost or sink state championship hopes as traditional powers move up and down in size.

There are now zero AAAA schools in the Abilene or Midland area. Big Spring moved to AAA and Abilene Cooper moved back to AAAAA. There are AAAA schools in the Lubbock area but they fill one district with schools north of them. San Angelo is on it's own little island. If the Waco area ever does get more AAAA schools, the UIL will still have to stick Laveview someplace. You can not have a one school district.

Ok so Waco and Killeen Schools couldnt play the North austin 4a's or South D/FW 4a's schools. Your telling me the closet 4a school to Waco and Killeen is San Angelo, i understand Stephenville, it that was the case Waco, Cleburne, Stephenville, and some other in North texas should have a district. And say the rest for Killeen and Austin schools. San Angelo is more closer to Abilene Midland pretty much anywhere West of here. One day Connally, Lorena, Lavega, China Spring or Robinson can all move to 4a and have all Metro Waco Centex district. C'Mon UIL

Bob, I understand what you're saying. It seems to me that these supers. didn't put much thought into anything...What was wrong with the way we had it? I just don't understand....it's ludicrous.
