WACO (August 23, 2012)--Calvert athletic director and high school football coach Coylin Grimes was released from jail Thursday after a federal magistrate set his bond at $50,000.

Grimes waived arraignment Thursday.

Grimes was arrested on Aug. 17 as part of a wide-ranging drug sting, according to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

He, his brother, Taureane Grimes and 14 other people were the subject of a probe of an alleged drug delivery ring that's been under investigation since 2011.

The charges against Grimes include conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and accessory after the fact.

Grimes led the Calvert Trojans 6-man football team to a state championship in 2002 and had been coaching with the district since 1999.
