KILLEEN (May 23, 2013)—Acting on a tip, Killeen police made an arrest Thursday in connection with the robbery of a local 7-Eleven store during which the female clerk was stabbed.

Michael Stuart Burton, 23, of Killeen, was arrested in the 1900 block of Duncan Avenue.

Burton, who showed an adress on White Avenue, in Killeen, was listed on the Bell County Jail Log Friday morning as ordered held on a $100,000 bond charged with aggravated robbery.

Officers were sent at around 2 a.m. Wednesday to the 7-Eleven in the 1400 block of East Rancier Avenue where they found the 49-year-old clerk injured.

She told officers that a man walked into the store, asked her for help at the cooler and then attacked and stabbed her when she stepped out from behind the counter, Killeen police spokeswoman Carroll Smith said.

The robber escaped on foot with several cartons of Newport cigarettes, Smith said.

The clerk was taken to a Killeen hospital with what Smith said were non-life-threatening injuries.
