GRIMES COUNTY (December 31, 2013) A crash late Tuesday morning at a highway intersection east of College Station left one man dead and two other people injured.
Howard Gerber, 65, of Rosenberg died when the vehicle in which he and his wife Cheryll, 62, were riding, was struck broadside by a bread truck at the intersection of FM 244 and Highway 30.
The Department of Public Safety told KBTX-TV in Bryan that the Gerbers were northbound on FM 244.
They evidently pulled out into the path of the eastbound truck after stopping at the intersection.
Howard Gerber died at the scene.
His wife and the driver of the truck, Benjamin Short, 57, of Bryan were taken to St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.
Information about the extent of their injuries and their conditions wasn’t immediately available.
