WACO (December 11, 2013) Relatives and friends of Norma Alicia Valdez, 51, of Waco, who died Sunday in a hit-and-run accident as she drove home from a friend’s house, were preparing to say farewell Wednesday as they wait for answers about the driver who fled after the deadly crash.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Brazos Funeral Home at 1124 Washington Ave., and then Valdez’s body will be transported to Monclova, Mexico, where she’ll be laid to rest, family members said.
Valdez had lived in Waco for more than 20 years and for more than eight of them had worked at Rosa’s Cafe, but most of her family is in Mexico, relatives said.
Officers are still looking for a red or maroon Dodge Magnum with a blue-colored decorative light in the front grill whose driver was involved in the accident at around 6 p.m. Sunday on the Waco Drive bridge across the Brazos River.
The Magnum, which should have front end damage, was last seen in the East Waco area, police said.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the vehicle or its driver to call Waco police at (254) 750-7500 or Waco Crime Stoppers at (254) 753-HELP.
