Firefighters Rescue 3 Men After Truck Plummets Into Local Creek

By: Brittany Semadeni Email

HARKER HEIGHTS (February 22, 2013)--Three men were taken to Scott & White Hospital in Temple early Friday morning after the pickup truck in which they were riding plunged off a bridge and landed in a creek.

The truck went over the guardrail on the bridge at around 2 a.m. Friday on FM 3219 and fell 25 feet into Nolan Creek.

Firefighters had to descend on ropes to reach the men.

The rescue took just over an hour.

Harker Heights Deputy Fire Chief Glenn Gallenstein said no one appeared to be in critical condition, but one of the men was flown to Scott & White.

The other two were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Authorities are trying to determine what caused the truck to veer off the bridge.
