Local Drug Investigation Leads To Five Arrests

MCLENNAN COUNTY (April 30, 2014) A local drug investigation involving Robinson and McGregor police led to four arrests and the seizure of 29 pounds of marijuana, $28,000 in cash, hashish, scales, records and packaging materials, authorities said Wednesday.

Additional arrests are possible, police said.

Officers arrested Eric Coleman of McGregor on outstanding warrants after a traffic stop early Monday.

He remained in the McLennan County Jail Wednesday in lieu of bonds totaling more than $170,000 charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence.

A passenger in Coleman’s car was arrested, as well, after an unspecified quantity of marijuana was found in the vehicle, police said in a press release Wednesday.

Officers later searched Coleman’s home and recovered a small amount of hashish, records, scales and other items, police said.

Officers then served a search warrant early Tuesday morning at a home in the 200 block of Hillside Drive in Robinson and seized 29 pounds of packaged marijuana, 223 grams of hashish, about $28,000 in cash and one handgun, officials said.

Officers arrested Dennis Alan Thomas, 58, police said Wednesday.

He was taken to the McLennan County Jail, but was not listed Wednesday in online records.

Later Tuesday morning, officers searched an unoccupied home in the 2800 block of Speight Avenue and seized financial records, police said.

Another warrant was served at home in the 1600 block of Clark Avenue in Waco.

Officers arrested Brenton Stech, 35, and John Childs, 41.

Stech was in the McLennan County Jail Wednesday charged with possession of methamphetamine over 1 ounce.

His bond was set at $5,000.

Childs did not appear in online jail records.

A final warrant was executed at a home in the 2200 block of McFerrin Avenue in Waco, where officers seized a small amount of marijuana, scales, records, packaging material and other items, police said.

Several vehicles were also seized, police said.
