THORNDALE (January 20, 2014) A Rockdale man was held Monday in the Milam County Jail charged with aggravated robbery after a Thorndale Dollar General Store was held up at gunpoint on Saturday.
Rodney Lloyd Gillam, 35, was listed on the Milam County Jail log as ordered held on a $100,000 bond, charged with aggravated robbery.
Thorndale police Chief Martin Jackson said officers were sent at about 3:10 p.m. Saturday to the store where they encountered a store clerk who said she had been robbed by a man with a gun.
The clerk and a witness told police the gunman left the store driving a Chevrolet pick up truck.
No one was hurt in the robbery, Jackson said.
Early Sunday morning Rockdale police located the suspect pick up at a residence in Rockdale.
Rockdale police located the suspect early Sunday morning and detained him until Thorndale police could arrive to take him into custody, Jackson said.
The robbery still is under investigation, Jackson said.
