Police Kill Texas Man Who Was Threatening Infant Son With Knife

SNYDER (November 5, 2012)--Police shot and killed a West Texas man who threatened his year-old son with a knife before charging toward an officer, authorities said Monday.

Snyder police Chief Terry Luecke said an autopsy was scheduled Monday on David Dale Rivera, 52.

Rivera’s son was not hurt.

On Saturday officers responded to a report that a man was threatening to kill his girlfriend, their son and himself at their home.

Investigators say the woman escaped unharmed.

Police say Rivera was at the front door when he put the youngster down and had a knife in each hand as he lunged toward an officer.

The officer shot Rivera, who died later at a Snyder hospital.

The officer has been put on paid administrative duty during the investigation.
