BELL COUNTY (October 1, 2013)—Rescuers had to free a driver from the wreckage of an SUV Tuesday after a crash on U.S. Highway 190 between Paddy Hamilton Road and Nolanville Hill.
The westbound SUV slammed into a guardrail, authorities said.
Westbound traffic was restricted to one lane as rescuers used the Jaws of Life to free the driver Tuesday morning.
It took about 10 minutes to remove a portion of the SUV’s roof in order to free the woman from the SUV.
She was taken to a local hospital with serious head injuries, Assistant Bell County Fire and Rescue Chief Tony Wright said.
Wright said the woman lost control of the SUV, which hit and almost went over a bridge guardrail, then bounced off the guardrail a second time.
That caused the SUV to overturn and when it rolled back onto its wheels it hit the guardrail for a third time before coming to a stop.
