Supreme Court Refuses To Review Convicted Texas Killer’s Case

HOUSTON (November 13, 2012)--The U.S. Supreme Court refused Tuesday to review the case of a Mexican national sent to Texas death row for gunning down a Houston police officer 18 years ago.

Edgar Arias Tamayo, 45, was sent to death row for killing Officer Guy Gaddis, 24, who had arrested him after a robbery outside a Houston nightclub minutes earlier in January 1994.

The justices Tuesday rejected his case without comment.

Tamayo doesn't yet have an execution date.

Evidence showed Tamayo had hidden a pistol inside his pants and shot the officer from the backseat of the patrol car while he was being taken to jail.

The car ran off a road and hit a house

Tamayo, still handcuffed, kicked out a window and fled, but he was arrested a few blocks away.
