JACKSON, Miss. (November 3, 2012)--A Texas man was in custody after he was arrested in Mississippi in connection with a shipment of more than 100,000 diet pills from China, authorities said.
Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Director Marshall Fisher said in a news release the pills contain a substance banned in the United States.
Fisher said the substance has been linked to heart attacks and strokes.
Oscar Hugo Onate, 30, of Dallas faces a charge of possession of sibutramine with the intent to distribute.
Fisher says Onate was arrested at a post office in Vicksburg, Miss., after MBN intercepted a suspicious package from a China business address.
