HOUSTON (July 5, 2014) Donald Frazier, 69, was shot to death with his own gun during a struggle with a burglar he confronted outside of the garage of his home in Harris County, authorities said.
Harris County deputies found Frazier dead in the garage when they arrived early Friday morning.
Frazier and his wife were awakened when their backup generator started running early Friday and then Frazier noticed the entry door to the garage was open and went to investigate, confronting the burglar on the patio, authorities said.
Deputies found Daniel Durham, 30, walking a few blocks away with blood on his clothing and legs.
He admitted to the shooting, authorities said.
Authorities say a murder charge was pending against Durham, who remained jailed Saturday on $100,000 bond.
