Two Texas Inmates Face Execution This Week

HUNTSVILLE (November 13, 2012)--A San Antonio man faces execution Wednesday evening for the rape, robbery and suffocation death of a 37-year-old woman who was abducted from a bus stop in 2001.

Prosecutors say the murder of Rosa Maria Rosado is one of at least three slayings tied to Ramon Hernandez, 39.

DNA also linked him to the strangulation of two cousins from San Antonio in 1994.

Hernandez faces lethal injection Wednesday evening in Huntsville.

He would be the 14th condemned killer put to death this year in Texas.

Another execution is scheduled Thursday evening.

Preston Hughes of Houston was convicted of killing a 15-year-old girl and her 3-year-old cousin in 1988.

Hernandez appears to have exhausted his appeals, but Hughes has several pending.

Both have lost clemency requests before the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles.
