University Student Charged In Deadly Texas Shooting

A university student was in custody Tuesday in Texas charged with capital murder in a shooting that left three people dead.

DALLAS (August 5, 2014) Justin Smith, 21 of Pine Bluff, Ark., was in the Dallas County Jail Tuesday charged with capital murder in a shooting that left three people dead.

He was ordered held in lieu of $1 million bond.

Smith is a student at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where he is studying agriculture.

Smith admitted killing three people Saturday during an argument at a house where drugs are sold, police said.

Smith also shot another person in the head, but she survived, police said.

Demarcus Black, 38, Kimberly Montgomery, 36, and Tyteanna Lyahanee Brown, 21, died in the shooting Saturday in Oak Cliff.

Members of the North Texas U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task force arrested Smith Sunday at a home in Grand Prairie.

Smith's family issued a written statement expressing condolences to the victims' families.
