CAMERON (August 5, 2010)--A golf tournament will be held Sunday, August 15th at the Cameron Country Club, located at 1901 E. 21st in Cameron, to benefit the Eric Balch family. An explosion at the Balch family home in Gatesville on Saturday, July 17th resulted in the death of the Balch’s youngest son, Mason, and severely injured Eric and his son Cade.
Eric remains hospitalized at Parkland Hospital Burn Unit in Dallas, and his son Cade continues to receive treatment for his injuries sustained in the explosion.
Eric was burned over 50% of his body. His fight will be long as Eric faces numerous surgeries over the next several weeks.
The golf tournament August 15th will be a 9-hole, 4- Person Scramble. Scheduled start time is 1:00 p.m. Entry fee is $50.00 per person and Mulligan’s will be $40.00 per team. Participants are welcome to bring their own carts, however golf carts are available, on a limited basis. If a cart is needed, please request at time of registration.
Balch is a 1991 graduate of Yoe High School in Cameron, he currently coaches at La Vega High School in Waco. His parents, Tank & Kathy Balch live and work in Cameron, as well as his sister, Wendy Mahan, who teaches at Cameron Elementary.
