KILLEEN (August 24, 2010)—A 2-year-old Killeen girl required hospital treatment after her family’s newly adopted Great Dane bit her in the face Tuesday morning.

The attack occurred at around 10 a.m. in the 5800 block of Lance Loop.

The child was taken to Metroplex Hospital in Killeen where she required a single stitch.

She was later released.

An animal control officer took the dog.

The child's mother said she adopted the dog on Monday.

To Sherry: I plan on getting him when he comes up for adoption and you'll never hear from him again. Why? Because he'll blend in with my other dogs and be well behaved. I hope both your daughter and grand-daughter will recover from this unfortunate incident and thank you for not hating animals. Labs are awesome dogs and very loyal. May they be a part of your family for a very long time.
