Report: FBI Still Vulnerable

(October 1, 2007)--Government officials say people who work at the FBI could still be spying on the U.S. and not getting caught, six years after a high-ranking turncoat was arrested.

A Justice Department report claims the FBI has failed to adopt security measures fully to track suspicious behavior of its own workers.

The investigation found that the FBI ignored advice from the Inspector General's office to enhance internal monitoring procedures.

The report blames faulty technology, in part, for the spotty follow up on suspicious employees, saying the spy agency hasn't created full case files on them yet.

The report says these gaps expose the nation to internal spy threats.

It challenges FBI officials to be vigilant in preventing internal espionage in the future.
