STILLWATER, Okla. (September 2, 2010)--Authorities in Stillwater, Okla. have dropped a drug charge against Oklahoma State safety Victor Johnson, a former Waco High School standout.
Johnson still faces charges of obstructing a police officer and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Court records show that a charge of possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, was dropped Wednesday and an Oct. 18 hearing was scheduled on the remaining charges.
Johnson was arrested in July after university police responded to a suspicious odor complaint at his apartment.
Officers said they found marijuana after obtaining a search warrant.
Johnson's attorney, William Baker, said a woman made a statement to authorities that she was responsible for the marijuana.
Prosecutors filed the DUI charge against Johnson in June.
Johnson was ranked among the top high school defensive backs in the country when he signed with Oklahoma State in 2008.
The first-team academic all-Big 12 player, missed the last three games of the 2009 season because of a knee injury.

I don't think Kevin meant another criminal in training due to race. What I hope he was referring to is the fact that sport stars and celebrities don't seem to face the same penalties as the average citizen. I don't see why colleges or any professional teams would keep people when they commit crimes. I think it sends a bad message about their programs. The only thing citizens can do is boycott the teams or stop buying tickets to movies that hire criminal actors. Mr. Johnson is young and I hope he has learned a lesson from this, but unfortunately most people don't learn without consequences for their actions.
Why would Any College want a doper playing on their football team or any other sport that represented their College?? Some kids don't seam to ever learn, not even after the first time they are caught!
chris , get real, quoted a gov website, right on que, get out of your fairy tale version, go to heb, or walmart, see who has a cell phone, nice clothes, and pay with a texas card. look at those numbers, most people have tried to get beyond the race issue, not easy, when this is all you see at the stores. numbers dont lie, yeah, well wait and take a look at the numbers after the november election, and by the way, i paid my way through college, no gove help. or minority scholarship, can you say the same??
