CAMERON (September 1, 2010)—Milam County fugitive Jimmy Lee Simmons, 27, was back in custody Thursday, more than a year after he jumped bond after his aggravated robbery conviction for an armed home invasion.
Simmons was the county’s most wanted person, authorities said.
Milam County sheriff’s deputies, Cameron police and Constable John Anderle arrested Simmons without incident in the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard and West 10th Street in Cameron after what authorities said was an intense investigation.
Simmons was convicted more than a year ago in the home invasion and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
He was released on an appeal bond, however, but then failed to show up for the appeal hearing.
The conviction stems from a home invasion robbery in November 2005 in which Simmons, armed with a pistol, forced his way into a residence in the 800 block of West 8th Street in Cameron.
