WACO (September 2, 2010)—The Waco-McLennan County Health District is investigating a possible case of tuberculosis on the McLennan Community College campus, MCC spokeswoman Lisa Wilhelm confirmed Thursday evening.
Wilhelm said health officials contacted MCC about the possible case.
E-mails were sent to students and staff advising that there’s no reason for alarm and nothing they need to do right now, Wilhelm said.
The health district will contact the school if students or staff members need to be tested, she said.
Other details weren’t available Thursday evening.

I am a medical proffesional and I can tell you that Gary is very right. We see illegals all the time in the ER with TB and they refuse medication because you cant drink alcohol. They cant be tracked by the local health departments because they move when they are discovered. Entire families have it because they come back and forth across the border. Heads up people they go to school with your kids.

We are a very mobile society with a great deal of international travel that is legal, so it is not just illegal immigrants bringing diseases over here. I hope this person does not have TB, because it is such a nasty disease and will make them very sick.

I don't understand you Anonymous Sept 3, 2010 at 5:03 P.M. Immunization shots have been safe and been given since way back in 1951 that I personally know of. And 'every child is 'required' to get them, and some re-immunization shots are now being required for people that are 20/21 years old. This is the 'only' way to control the diseases. I've watched polio kill several of my close friends over the years since they contracted it back in 1957. A tuberculosis test is only a scratch on your arm, then go back in three days to see if it turns red and gets infected. I came in contact with someone in the Hospital, on a visit that had tuberculosis, so I had to be tested. And NO this is not a H1N1 flu shot. Get your head out of the sand and have your kids vaccinated, you too!
