By: Paul J. Gately and Casey Monroe Email

WACO (September 5, 2010)—Waco firefighters are dealing with a hazardous incident Sunday afternoon at Waco’s Owens-Illinois Glass Plant.

The facility is on Beverly Drive across the street from the north side of the Waco Veterans’ Administration hospital.

Firefighters were called to the scene just before noon when workmen at the plant reported a leak in one of the plants giant glass furnaces.

A News 10 photographer at the scene said one firefighter told him hot, molten glass was leaking from a furnace onto the floor.

Firefighters were working on the second floor of the building to contain heat and smoke damage.

There have been no reports of injuries.

Six fire units and an East Texas Medical Center ambulance were at the scene.

News 10 will have more details on this incident as they are released.
