WACO (September 7, 2010)--Waco police said Tuesday they're looking for a young mother, after a local daycare worker found a "small baggy" of marijuana in the diaper of a 1-year-old.
The father, David Shepherd, 23, was arrested Saturday and charged with abandoning or endangering a child.
He was released from the McLennan County Jail on Sunday afternoon after posting bond.
On Tuesday, a Waco Crimes Against Children detective said police have an arrest warrant for the baby's mother as well.
The detective said both the father and mother dropped the baby off at the Waco Child Development Infant Center in the 600 block of South 9th Street where workers discovered the pot and called police.
Police say the infant’s father evidently hid a small baggy of marijuana in the diaper and then forgot about it.
A daycare worker found the baggy while changing the baby girl’s diaper.
