HOLLAND (September 8, 2010)—The Bell County town of Holland was without water Wednesday afternoon and will be for two or three days after a pipe break that can’t be repaired until floodwaters subside.

The break occurred in the main pipe that supplies water to the town.

Holland has a reserve tank, but the water it contained has been used, Mayor Mae Smith said.

Bottled water will be available to residents beginning Thursday at the fire station, Smith said.

Residents will be provided with 3 gallons of bottled water daily until repairs are completed.

Smith said residents should be sure to turn off water heaters, which won’t refill until water service is restored.

Why does any City build a main water line above the normal water height of any creek or river bed? So it can break when it floods???
