Central Texas Man Dies In Weekend Rollover

By: Paul J. Gately Email

THORNDALE (September 13, 2010)—A 51-year-old Thorndale man died Sunday afternoon after he lost control of his pickup truck and it crashed into a roadside field.

Gregory James Robbins was driving east on Farm-to-Market 1331 about two-tenths of a mile east of County Road 439, just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday when he lost control on loose gravel in a road construction site.

Department of Public Safety trooper Erik Gaston reported Robbins over corrected, went into a sideways skid and his pick up overturned into a roadside ditch and came to rest in a field.

Robbins was wearing a seat belt.

Milam County Justice of the Peace Twila Anne Harris pronounced Robbins dead at the scene; his body was taken to Phillips-Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale where arrangements were pending Monday.
