MCGREGOR (September 13, 2010)—A woman whose hand got caught in a binding machine at the Smead Manufacturing Co. plant in McGregor was flown by helicopter Monday evening to Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

It happened just before 6 p.m. Monday at the plant on East Highway 84.

The woman is in her 30s, but her name wasn’t immediately available.

Minnesota-based Smead plans to close the 40-year-old production and distribution facility early next year.

The plant now employs about 140 workers.
