(October 9, 2007)--Carrollton police say a suspect in last month's killing of a University of North Texas student has been caught in Mexico.

A murder warrant had been issued for 20-year-old Ernesto Reyes of Denton.

The burned body of 19-year-old Melanie Goodwin of Arlington was found Sept. 25, dumped in a business park in Carrollton.

An autopsy found Goodwin died from blunt force trauma.

Security videotape from a Denton convenience store showed a man believed to be Reyes, who hours earlier allegedly had asked Goodwin for a ride.

Police say Reyes was nabbed as he left a relative's house in an area about four hours northeast of Mexico City, in the town of Celaya Guanajuato.

A friend of Reyes has been charged with tampering with evidence in the case.
