(October 10, 2007)—Deliberations are scheduled to resume Wednesday in Houston in the trial of former Texas Southern University President Priscilla Slade.
Jurors completed their first full day of deliberations Tuesday without reaching a verdict.
Slade is accused of misspending school funds to pay for lavish furnishings for her homes.
Prosecutors say Slade misspent more than half a million dollars of TSU funds on such things as expensive furniture, landscaping and a high-tech security system.
Slade's defense attorneys say all her purchases were legitimate and done to improve the school's status.
Slade is on trial for misapplication of fiduciary property with a value over $200,000.
If convicted, she faces up to life in prison.
