Good morning, it’s Tuesday, October 23rd, the 296th day of 2007. There are 69 days left in the year. After a morning low in the upper 40s, it should warm up into the upper 60s today. Gusty winds are likely along and east of Interstate 35.

Twenty years ago today in 1987, the US Senate voted 58-42 to reject the Supreme Court nomination of Robert H. Bork, in the process creating a new verb, “borking,” which is used to refer to organized campaigns (that may or may not involve distortions of fact) against nominees or candidates for various posts. Depending on which side of the debate you’re on, it’s either a pejorative, or a word that describes a legitimate use of power.
