(October 23, 2007)--Slim Jim Phantom of the Stray Cats and Glen Tilbrook of Squeeze are among those who have played a concert higher than anyone else.

Phantom and Tilbrook, along with Mike Peters of The Alarm, Cy Curnin and Jamie West of The Fixx and British singer-songwriter Nick Harper, have played a show on the slopes of Mount Everest.

Peters says Everest allowed them "to share with her some of our humble songs and to break the record for the world's highest concert on land."

They staged the concert on behalf of the Love Hope Strength Foundation, which campaigns for better cancer treatments.

The group had said they hope to have certification with Guinness World Records.

It's a record that could, in theory, be broken, if a particularly strong-willed musician chose to do so.

The group performed their show at 18,540 feet, near the starting base camp used by mountaineers scaling Everest.
