Good morning, it’s Thursday, November 1, the 305th day of 2007. There are 60 days left in the year. This is All Saints Day. After an overnight low in the mid 40s, today should be sunny and cooler with highs only in the lower 70s and north winds of 10 to 15 miles per hour.

On this day in 1973 following the "Saturday Night Massacre," Acting Attorney General Robert H. Bork appointed Baylor University graduate Leon Jaworski to be the new Watergate special prosecutor, succeeding Archibald Cox. Jaworski was born in Waco in 1905 and graduated from the Baylor Law School in 1925. In 1974, he convinced the US Supreme Court to order President Richard Nixon to turn over audiotapes that implicated Nixon and some members of his staff in a conspiracy to obstruct justice. Nixon resigned not longer after the court issued the order.
