(November 1, 2007)--A Nebraska schoolteacher is accused of having a relationship with a 13-year-old student and running off with him.
According to the Lexington, Neb. Police Department, authorities were contacted about the allegations last week.
The school had reason to believe that 25-year-old Kelsey Peterson was having some sort of relationship with 13-year-old Fernando Rodriguez an eighth grade student.
Peterson was placed on administrative leave on Thursday.
After investigating, authorities were issued a warrant Monday for Peterson's arrest, but could not find her.
Lexington Police said that the boy's family reported him missing on Saturday and that they believe he was with the teacher.
Reports on Monday put them in Denver.
They are believed to be in a white four-door 2006 Pontiac with Nebraska plates 18-K16.
There is a felony warrant out for Kelsey Peterson who is charged with kidnapping, child abuse, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
