School Rule: No Hugging

Students at one school in Texas have been
told -- halt the hugging.

Administrators at Barton Middle School in Kyle, about 20 miles South of Austin, say the decision to discourage hugging has nothing to do with inappropriate touching but more to do with getting the kids to class on time.

Officials say all that hugging is causing children to be late
for class.

So far no students have been disciplined for hugging in the
hallways, but some youngsters have been talked to about it.

Some parents aren't embracing the informal rule.
Teresa Bolton says kids should be able to hug each other. She
calls it a "love thing" between friends.

But others say hugging is a distraction from learning and should
be curtailed.
