(November 11, 2007)—A 27-year-old Temple man was in custody Sunday after a woman was kidnapped from the parking lot of a local bar and then sexually assaulted.

Police responded around 12:30 a.m. Saturday to Bum’s Sports bar in the 500 block of Southeast HK Dodgen Loop after reports of a fight.

Officers determined that witnesses had seen a man assault a woman in the parking lot.

The two then left together in a truck, witnesses said.

Police weren’t able to find the truck, but late Saturday afternoon officers found the victim.

She told officers she had been abducted and then sexually assaulted, police said.

She said the man took her through several different counties before returning to Temple Saturday afternoon, police said.

Officers arrested the man around 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Red Roof Inn at 915 N. General Bruce Dr.

A formal complaint charging aggravated kidnapping should be filed sometime Sunday.
