First Votes In Presidential Race Already Tallied

Residents of two New Hampshire mountain hamlets voted just after midnight Tuesday and George W. Bush was the favorite.

In Hart’s location, Mr. Bush won 16 votes, Sen. John Kerry won 14, and independent candidate Ralph Nader got one.

A few minutes later in Dixville Notch, Mr. Bush picked up 19 more votes while seven residents voted for Kerry.

In 2000, Mr. Bush beat Vice President Al Gore 17-13 in Hart’s Location and 21-5 in Dixville Notch.
