(November 21, 2007)--A former prison guard accused of giving birth in a motel bathtub and stuffing the full-term baby in the back tank of the toilet was free on bond Wednesday.

Police arrested 24-year-old Khaliliha Baucom of Lott Tuesday on a warrant charging abuse of a corpse, which is a misdemeanor.

But police say a capital murder charge could still be filed.

She was released from Falls County Jail Wednesday after posting $2,500 bond.

Police in Marlin say Baucom gave birth by herself in a Marlin motel bathtub in April.

Then she was taken by ambulance to a hospital after she complained of bleeding and stomach
pain.

She was airlifted to a Waco hospital for an emergency C-section.

When doctors discovered she had already given birth, they called the police.

Marlin officers found the baby's body in the toilet tank along with the placenta and bloody towels used to clean up the bathtub.

Child Protective Services initially took custody of her three children, but they have since been living with their fathers.

Before, we start pointing fingers and saying thing we shouldn't. Remember God forgives us and he gave his only begotten son for us and look how we repay him. So lets let God do the judgeing. We love you! Family in Lott

It is a sad day when something this horrible happens to a sweet helpless baby or child. Do not worry about the current charge. It is sometimes safer to go with a lesser charge in the beginning until enough evidence has been gathered to insure the conviction on the more serious charge that may be filed at a later date. It may seem unfair but if they rush into a felony charge they may not be prepared with the evidence and the case will be thrown out. I'm sorry I do not see how killing your child and then just throwing their body away in such a manner as you would toss out a dirty napkin can be seen as a mistake. I have made many mistakes in my life. As we all have. However, if we as a society can just allow ourselves to view this type of crime as a mistake then we are only creating a nasty and terrible life for our future and our childrens future. I believe we must teach our children they are responsible for their actions and there is a limit to what you can claim to be a mistake.
