Authorities say a three-year-old El Paso
girl whose body was found in a car trunk died from internal
bleeding caused by blunt force trauma to the abdomen.
The El Paso County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the death
of Jacqueline Gonzalez a homicide.
Police found Jacqueline's body Monday night during a welfare
check involving the girl at her family's east El Paso apartment.
The girl's mother, Yara Perez, and her common-law husband,
Francisco Castaneda, were arrested on a charge of injury to a child
resulting in death.
The two 25-year-olds are being held in the El Paso County Jail
with bond set at $200,000.
An officer at the jail said they were not available for comment
